JUNGLE EXPEDITIONS

Our jungle expeditions lead you deep into unexplored areas of the Amazon Rain Forest.  Many of the expeditions lead you far away from civilization.  Expeditions include activities such as travel in boats, walks, and excursions into the dense unexplored jungle.  
 
The intention of these tours is to guide you through the Amazon forest. We spend our days observing a variety of flora and fauna.  The expeditions take us through the forest of Manu National Park and the unexplored jungle of Tahuamanu which is located along the border between Peru and Brazil.  During these expeditions we take long walks where we will explore the jungle; we will have to use a machete to open paths and travel deep into the Amazon. 

In the afternoons, we set up camp in the middle of the jungle, generally along the banks of a river. The rivers of the Amazon in the region of Madre de Dios have a great concentration of fish; it is for this reason that we will have the opportunity to catch some fish which will serve as our dinner.  

At nights we will take nocturnal walks.  On these excursions we will see many insect species, lizards, spiders, and frogs.  Before returning to our camp we can search for caimans (a type of alligator) along the edges of the river using our flashlights. We can do this using our boat or walking through the river. 

It is very important to remember that these expeditions are lead by a personal guide, a cook, and the passengers are obligated to help carry part of the food and the items for camping. 

The best time for expeditions is from May to September.
