TOUR ITINERARY
DAY1: Cusco - Pilcopata Lodge.
We leave from Cusco by private bus, first stopping to visit the pre Inca burial towers of Ninamarca. We then drive through the mountains, to get to the typical and folkloric town of Paucartambo . Here we will have a short walk around town before carrying on to Tres Cruces, the highest point and entrance to Manu National Park .From here we will continue into the Cloud Forest and at San Pedro we will walk for around 1 hour to observe the National bird of Peru , the cock of the rock, and many different kinds of monkeys, plants and flowers. We arrive to Pilcopata in the evening where we will sleep in a local lodge. (L+D)
DAY2: Pilcopata - Bonanza Ecological Reserve.
After breakfast we will continue by private bus to Atalaya. On the way we will stop to observe a plantation, we will also stop at a view point where you can get a good overview of the jungle and river. From Atalaya we leave by motorized boat to Aguas Calientes, where you can bath in the nature hot springs . From there we will continue by boat to Bonanza (camping platforms). We will arrive mid-afternoon. after get some water supplies we will take a short walk, in the area we will have chances do some bird watching, macaws, toucans, parrots, woodpeckers, fly catchers, squirrel monkeys, brown capuchin monkey are often observe. late in the afternoon when it gets dark we will have a night walk where we will look for Tarantulas, some spiders, frogs, lizards, some nocturnal mammals and snakes. after walk two in a half hours we will return to the lodge.(B+L+D)
DAY3: Full day jungle expedition and Camping in the meddle of the Jungle.
Very early after breakfast we will start with our expedition tour, in this expedition walk we will have chances to observe some animals like white collared peccary, deers, a part of it also we will do some bird watching, late in the afternoon after lunch we will we will take another walk into the jungle for 3 hours. In the middle of the jungle there is a hiding platform in from of a Mammal clay lick, we will accommodate our selves and eat our dinner before it gets dark.
In the night we will have chances to see Tapirs (largest South American mammal), they came to this place to eat the clay, this clay helps then to neutralize their toxins, also we can see some deers.
As option: We can also spent this nigh in a different are close to the River, this afternoon we can do some fishing and at night we will walk along the river looking for caimans.(B+L+D)
DAY4: Campsite - Macaw Clay Lick.
This morning after eat some cereals, we will join a small stream, there we will fishing for a couple of hours. after we will return to the lodge, after pick up all our luggage we will sail up river and rise our camp in one of the river banks on Madre de Dios River. After dark we will have another opportunity to search for some Caimans. In the evening we will build a bonfire, which we can sit around, relax and have some drinks. We will sleep in tents on the sandbank. (B+L+D)
DAY5: Parrot Clay Lick - Cusco.
Very early in the morning before having our breakfast, using a hidden place we will observate a Macaw Clay Lick. This is a clay wall on the riverside, where different species of parrots and macaws come down each morning to extract necessary minerals for their diet balance. “The Parakeets”, “Amazon Parrot”, “The Blue headed Parrot” give an unforgettable pallet of colored wild life and as a perfectly finish to this picture the fabulous “Macaws” will arrive. Impressed by nature we return to Atalaya by boat where our private bus will waiting for us to take us back to Cusco via the cloud forest and Paucartambo. We will arrive back in Cusco in the late afternoon. (B+L)
